DNA Size-selection System

Equipment Introduction

BluePippin is an automated gel electrophoresis system using pre-cast and disposable agarose gel cassettes for DNA size selection. DNA fractions are collected by electro-elution into a buffer-filled well using a branched channel configuration with switching electrodes. Fragments with a range of size (Tight/ Range) or all fragments above a base pair threshold (High Pass) can be collected depending on the selected method and cassette. The collection time is sample- and method-dependent, which ranges from 1 to 5 hours. Protein fractionation can also be done by using precast SDS-agarose gels to extract and collect proteins from samples.
